Thread Theatre Company’s physical theatre work The Keepers is an unusual and compelling performance experience using live music, striking imagery and physical storytelling. It tells the story of two women in isolation, their relationship with each other and their pasts. The Keepers is about our struggle to let go of the myths we create about our own personal histories.
Two women inhabit an isolated lighthouse on a small rocky island in the middle of an ocean. One arrived by rowboat, unannounced and unexplained - the other seems to have been here forever. The women are both drawn to and repelled from the other. As the days roll by their identities become inexplicably intertwined, and the boundaries between the two become increasingly blurred.
A theatre experience that pushes the boundaries of narrative and naturalism. A visual and aural experience that provokes and intrigues. A journey, both surprising and familiar, with the fluid logic of a dream.
