Hutt City appoints new Director for Dowse and Petone Settlers Museums
Courtney Johnston has been appointed Director of Hutt City Museums and will take up her new position at the Dowse Art Museum on Monday 29 October.
She will take over from out-going Director, Cam McCracken, who departs for Dunedin Public Art Gallery at the end of September. Courtney is a well-known writer and commentator on the visual arts, and a regular correspondent for Radio New Zealand.
“We had some fantastic candidates for the role and feel that Courtney, in particular, will bring strong leadership, creativity and amazing energy to an already high performing team.
“She brings experience leading creative teams in both the public and private sectors,” says community services manager Matt Reid.
Courtney is currently the General Manager at Wellington web agency Boost New Media, which specialises in working with culture and heritage organisations.
Previously she held positions at the National Library of New Zealand, and was an elected member of the National Digital Forum.
