Indulge in Venice Carnival
Don a mask and take part in Venice Carnival on an 8-day tour through Italy with Back-Roads Touring.
The 27 January 2013 departure of An Italian Winter Indulgence includes a visit to the carnival - one of the world’s oldest and most famous festivals - from NZ$3325* per person twin share.
The itinerary starts in Rome and explores the Eternal City’s ancient wonders including the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain before moving through Orvieto, Montepulciano and Montalcino in the picturesque Tuscan countryside.
It continues to Florence before finishing in Venice where other highlights include a vaporetto ride, a ‘secret itineraries’ tour of Doge’s Palace and a visit to the historic glass-making town of Murano.
Accommodation with European breakfast daily, one wine tasting, four dinners, driver/guide, mini coach transport and entrance to itinerary sites are included.
Dating back to the 12th Century, Venice Carnival transforms the city’s ancient canal-lined streets into a series of parades and parties full of colourful costumes, glamorous masks and revelry each February.
