Monster Draw Winner All Smiles
Auckland, New Zealand, August 24, 2012 - When Noa bought her Annual Monster Draw tickets she was just hoping to help out her local Marist Rugby League club. Imagine her surprise when she got the call from Trina Tamati, NZRL’s Marketing Manager telling her she’d won first prize, a brand new car. Shock got the better of her and without thinking she asked “What year is the car?” Today, she collected her brand new 2012 Toyota Camry Atara S from Giltrap City Toyota.
In its second year, the Monster Draw is a key fundraising initiative in which the NZRL gathers up a number of major prizes with support from its sponsors for a nationwide raffle. Clubs are then able to sell the tickets retaining the full $5 from each ticket sold.
This year’s Monster Draw prizes included the new Toyota Camry Atara S, trips for two to both the NRL Grand Final and the Kiwis vs Kangaroos test in Townsville, and goodies from Vodafone and PlayStation. Another 20 happy winners received BLK replica Kiwis jerseys. The fantastic prize pool, valued at well over $55,000 in total, was shared right across the country with winners drawn from the far north to Wellington and even Greymouth & Dunedin.
Trina Tamati, NZRL said “The Monster Draw is a fantastic initiative which helps our clubs, districts, Zones and associates raising much needed funds. This year schools wanting to send their students to our National Secondary Schools tournament (Sept 3 – 7) got behind it and sold tickets to help with funding their tournament participation costs as well.
“It’s wonderful to be able to ring people and share the exciting news with them that they’ve not only helped someone else but had a bit of good luck as well. I must extend a huge thank you to Toyota and the family of sponsors who got in behind this initiative. I do hope Noa and her family really enjoy it.”
