Plan your travel to Eden Park for the Bledisloe Game on Saturday

Public transport and roads around Eden Park are expected to be busy prior to the second Bledisloe game between New Zealand and Australia on Saturday 25 August.

People need to think about their travel arrangements, even if they’re not going to the game. Drivers can expect more traffic than usual and potential delays from around 4.30pm until kick off at 7.35pm, as large numbers make their way to Eden Park.

Some streets around Eden Park, including Sandringham Rd, will be closed or have restricted access, similar to Rugby World Cup match parking restrictions. Only residents and their visitors will be able to access and park in certain streets, so drivers should check they have parked correctly before heading to the match.

Travel is free on trains and special event buses from 4.30pm with a match ticket, and extra event trains will run in addition to normal timetabled services. We advise customers to check for the last train service departing for the game on their line when they plan their travel.

Or walk the Fan Trail and enjoy some of the entertainment along the way, only 4km from the city centre.

Travel to Eden Park by train from the west:
On game day event services depart Swanson approx. every 15 minutes from 5pm (or Waitakere every 30 minutes from 4.26pm) and the last train from the west for the game leaves Waitakere at 6.26pm. Morningside is the station for passengers from the West, an easy walk via to Eden Park. A mobility shuttle will be available for patrons unable to walk to the stadium.

After the game, Morningside is the station for passengers travelling to the West. Services depart approx. every 10 minutes from 9.30pm to approx. 10.24pm stopping at all stations en route to Swanson. Some trains will continue on to Waitakere; check the train’s destination signage or with staff before boarding.

Travel to Eden Park by train from the city:
Event trains depart Britomart approx. every 5 to 15 minutes between 4.35pm and 6.50pm. Services will terminate at Kingsland, stopping only at Grafton en route.

After the game, Kingsland is the station for passengers heading back towards the city (transfer at Britomart for trains going South or East). Trains back to Britomart will depart approx. every 5 to 10 minutes from 9.20pm to 10.55pm, stopping only at Grafton Station en route.

The last train to the game leaves from Britomart station at 6.50pm.

Travel to Eden Park by train from the south/east:
Passengers are advised to catch normal scheduled services to Britomart and transfer onto Western Line services running approx. every 5 to 15 minutes to Kingsland from 4.30pm.

In addition to scheduled services, there are three special direct services, one from Papakura at 4.55pm and two from Pukekohe at 5.09pm and 5.39pm, that stop all southern line stations to Newmarket and then run direct to Kingsland.

After the game, Kingsland is the station for passengers heading to Britomart for passengers transferring to Eastern and Southern Line trains. Services depart Kingsland approx. every 5 to 10 minutes from 9.20pm to 10.55pm, stopping only at Grafton station en route.

The last trains to the game depart Manukau at 5.26pm, Onehunga at 6.12pm and Papakura at 6.10pm.

Travel to Eden Park by bus:
Free special event buses will run from the Auckland CBD stop outside the Civic on Queen Street from 5pm. Special event buses also start from approximately 4.30pm from Albany then other Northern Busway stations, Takapuna, Manukau/Pakuranga/Botany and Newmarket/Mt Eden.

Return buses will leave Eden Park from 9.15pm.

Passengers are reminded that alcohol is not permitted for consumption on any of these public transport services.
