Wellington Makes Light of Winter
WHAT: Wellington Lux-Mini Light Festival

Wellington City Council, Massey University’s College of Creative Arts and award winning design company Storybox have
teamed up to light up Wellington’s dark nights in an exciting new venture.
During the international Digital Earth Summit, taking place this September in Wellington, locals and visitors alike will
be treated to a walking trail of transformation along the waterfront from the lagoon to Te Papa.
Four stunning installations will grace the city, including Enigmatica, the internationally renowned installation by Australian artist Kit Webster.
Other installations include Wavelight, an interactive projection work by UK artist collective Squidsoup, and installations by local favourites Interrupt
Collective of Performance Arcade fame, and the New Zealand premier of Storybox’s internationally exhibited Afterlight.
Chris Bennewith, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor of Massey University’s College of Creative Arts says, “There is a huge
potential here for Wellington to develop a large-scale light festival that provides the city with a cutting edge,
internationally recognized cultural tourism event and a platform to springboard national artists and designers working
with digital media onto the international stage.”
