Glenorchy’s Dart River Jet Safaris has announced a sensational deal for families aimed at encouraging some ‘father-child’ bonding with an offer that slashes up to $289 off the price of two tickets on its popular Wilderness Safari trip.

The Father’s Day special is a ‘first’ for Dart River Jet Safaris, and the company said it was looking forward to welcoming fathers (and sons or daughters of any ages) to spend the day together in the pristine wilderness of the Dart River Valley.

Keen families will have to be quick to take advantage of the special offer as tickets will only be on sale for two days (August 23 and 24).

“Father’s Day is a great time to get together with family, and a trip on what is regarded as one of New Zealand’s most sensational journeys is a pretty ideal setting for some father-child bonding,” said Dart River Jet Safaris Operations Manager Callan Grimmer.

“We want to make it clear that we’re not restricting the tickets to children of a certain age.

“If a child in his or her twenties, thirties or forties wants to take Dad out for a very special day, we’ll welcome them with open arms.

“The Dart River experience is something that appeals to all people of all ages. And while we get plenty of international tourists coming to see our stunning national park, we don’t see many locals getting the chance to experience what’s on their back doorstep.

”This is their chance to do so but I’d say people will have to get in quick because it’s fantastic value deal.”

The special Father’s Day deal is for the full ‘Wilderness Safari’ trip which includes a bus journey from Glenorchy to Paradise, a guided educational nature walk followed by a jet boat ride into the stunning wilderness of the Dart River Valley, and a return jet boat trip to Glenorchy.

“There’s something for everyone,” said Mr Grimmer. “We cover the Pounamu Trail which was so valuable to the early Maori of the area, the guided walk offers some great ‘outdoor education’ and the scenic drive to Glenorchy is just about unbeatable, having been rated by Condé Nast and Lonely Planet as one of the top 10 scenic drives in the world.

“It’s stunning conditions up here at the moment. Winter is always a special time of year, with snow-capped mountains and a beautiful looking Dart River. It’s just got to be seen.”
