With something for everyone, the HSFC Art & Film Festival is a fundraiser for the Hanmer Springs Forest Camp’s cause. Opened to the public in 1978, the Hanmer Springs Forest Camp has been operated by a Charitable Trust on the belief that all New Zealand students should have the opportunity to attend camp. Seeing more than 6000 students a year, this iconic camp is keen to upgrade its facilities for many more years of school camps and also give back to the surrounding community.
As such the HSFC Art & Film Festival has been born. With a goal of $30000 to be raised, half the money will go towards upgrading camp facilities while the other half will start a fund for underprivileged schools and students to be able to come to school camp. Not just that, but the festival itself will be a great opportunity for New Zealand artists of all backgrounds and styles to be able to express their creative abilities in one place.
Art is no longer just paintings or photography. It is so much more than that. Art is seen in everything we do now days, whether through homemade jams, cabinet making, carvings, music, comedy, dance, food and movies. The methods of making art are far and wide and the HSFC Art & Film Festival aims to encompass it all.
