Creatifs Young Designer Awards - Entries Closing soon!
Entries to the inaugural Youthtown Creatifs Young Designers Awards competition are closing soon, and Youthtown is urging all creative young Kiwis not to miss this opportunity to showcase
their fashion, design and artistic talents.
Youthtown Creatifs is open to all 13 to18 year olds who are passionate about art, fashion and design. The Awards provide
the opportunity for aspiring young New Zealand designers to embrace their creativity and showcase their talents, by
entering the Fashion Design or Wearable Art category, or both.
To date, entries to the Youthtown Creatifs Awards have been received from as far north as Whangarei and as far south as
Timaru. All entry forms received by Friday 24 August 2012 will receive a free courier ticket to get their entries to
Auckland for judging. Completed garment or wearable art submissions must be received by 7 September 2012.
The two supreme winners, one for each category will receive a wonderful package of prizes, which will include, a trip to
Auckland to meet the judges, some retail therapy to obtain fabrics or art supplies, the 2012 Creatifs category supreme
winner trophy and a sewing machine or iPad.
The Fashion Design category challenges young designers to produce a ready to wear garment. This section will appeal to those keen to
demonstrate their ability to be fashion forward, who embrace fashion trends and want to express their individual style.
Wearable Art requires designers to create a hat inspired by the theme “everything old is new again”. Entrants are challenged to
think outside the square and produce a hat that demonstrates artistic flair, individuality and creativity.
Young designers can only enter each category once, but can enter both categories.

Winners of the Youthtown Creatifs Young Designer Awards will be announced on 24 September 2012. The supreme winners will
be flown to Auckland during the first week of the school holidays, 1 October 2012.
