First guided cycle tours for Nelson-Tasman’s Great Taste Trail
Two multi-day cycle tours have been launched on the new Great Taste Trail and this is the kind of initiative that NZ
Cycle Trail project manager Jonathan Kennett was hoping for.
“Escape Adventures is the first company to offer full-service guided cycle tours that explore this stunning region,”
says Mr Kennett who expects several thousand tourists to experience the Trail this summer.
Escape Adventures has 13 years’ experience in running cycle tours and mountain-bike adventures in New Zealand, Africa
and Asia.
John Etherington, founder and director, says the opportunity was too good to miss. “The Trail is right in our backyard,
and our two new cycle holidays will showcase the natural beauty and diversity of cuisine that is found along the Trail.”
The Great Taste Trail – Experiencing Nature’s Abundance is a five-day tour that showcases the natural taste of what grows here, allows you to meet the people who make the
region tick and to truly experience the wonderful and natural gems along the way.
For those who want a little bit of wilderness every day, the Great Taste Trail – National Park Explorer is an 8-day tour that also includes journeying through the three stunning national parks that surround the region.
Escape Adventures’ Great Taste Trail journeys begin and end in sunny Nelson. As well as riding the Trail, they explore
Nelson Lakes, Kahurangi and Abel Tasman National Parks. With 15-70km to ride each day on flat and gently undulating
terrain, riders have plenty of time to experience what makes the region famous: spa or massage treatments, sea kayaking,
sky diving, wine tasting, arts and crafts and much more.
Prices for Escape Adventures Great Taste Cycle Tours start from NZ$1550 per person on twin-share basis and include all
meals and accommodation. Small groups and qualified and experienced guides ensure your holiday will be remembered long
