Bracu Celebrates The Arrival Of Spring With New Menu
Bracu restaurant, New Zealand’s premier example of Country Estate dining is delighted to have launched into the Spring 2012 season with a mouthwatering menu, designed to tempt even the most discerning of palates. Created by Executive Head Chef Mikey Newlands, the new menu is an experience to be both savored and enjoyed with close friends and family.
“At Bracu we are trying to cook and create with honesty and sincerity,” says Mikey. “Past and recent travels abroad have re-affirmed my desire to cook with accuracy and simplicity. Part of the beauty with Bracu's situation is it's proximity to nature and it's something that we try to bring through to our food in the way we design our plates and through growing and foraging for herbs and vegetables.”
Mikey’s latest menu is made up of the freshest seasonal produce from both the Simunovich Estate gardens and passionate local producers from the Franklin area; so all the goodness of the food is retained and is served with the sensational colour and flavour that nature intended.
Highlights of the Bracu Spring menu include the uniquely named ‘Nearly Spring Chicken’, a poussin that has been delicately hay roasted to provide a exceptional and traditional hay-like flavour served with lemon, sorrel and roasted almond butter. Bracu’s Lemon Soufflé with Olive Oil Ice Cream makes for a deliciously tempting dessert and Mikey’s take on a ‘Snickers Bar’ with layers of peanut biscuit, salted caramel, chocolate crisp and chocolate and peanut mousse proves a decadent choice for any sweet tooth.
Located in the Bombay Hills, South of Auckland, Bracu stands at the front entrance of the Simunovich Olive Estate, home of one of New Zealand’s largest olive groves with over 30,000 trees. The old villa on the estate is the gorgeous home of the restaurant with stunning views across the olive trees, a lake and the rolling pastures of the Bombay Hills - a beautiful setting for a memorable dining experience.
