Is Auckland Too Large?
Auckland was already a big city a couple of years ago when its governing structure was replaced by a single Auckland Council and 21 elected local boards. If the past is any guide. the new entity is in danger of growing to extend from Northland to Hamilton in a Los Angeles-like conurbation.
The Deputy Mayor of the Auckland supercity, Cr. Penny Hulse, who went from Deputy Mayor of Waitakere to Deputy Mayor of Auckland City, is the guest In Conversation with Noel Cheer on Triangle Television this week. She has an overview of the phenomenal growth of Auckland through her role as Chair of the Auckland Plan Committee. Can the infrastructure support the growth and what good will a pair of tunnels from Britomart to Mount Eden do?
Triangle Television, Wednesday 15th of August at 7:00pm and repeated Thursday 16th of August at 12:30pm.
Triangle Television, the home of original public broadcasting, can be received in the Auckland region on UHF Channels 41, 42 and 52.
Triangle Television is also transmitted live on streaming TV – an emerging technology – which can be received (as a live feed) on broadband-connected computers and on Internet-connected television sets throughout New Zealand. "In Conversation with Noel Cheer" receives funding from New Zealand on Air. This has enabled Triangle Television to introduce viewers to over 200 New Zealanders on Air over the last 5 years of continuous weekly broadcasting.
