Te Awamutu dancer Ian Vincent to perform in Olympic Games Closing Ceremony

Ian Vincent a drummer and dancer from Te Awamutu has been selected to perform at the Olympic Games Closing Ceremony. He is currently in London working with the cast of hit British show Stomp in preparation for the event on 12 August.

Ian auditioned for and was accepted into Stomp while he was still in training - as a young 18 year-old dance student at Wellington Performing Arts Centre, now run by Whitireia Polytechnic. Five years later having toured all over the world with the Company he is in the elite squad selected for the Olympic performance. As a WPAC scholarship student supported by the Performing Arts Foundation of New Zealand, Ian had to cut short his studies when he received the call to join the Stomp cast, later going on to perform on London’s West End.

Ian who is of both Samoan and British descent has just returned to London after a short holiday with his family in Te Awamutu.
