Suite Embraces Winter with ABSOLUT Hotties

It is amazing how creative you can get over a good cocktail…
The ABSOLUT Hotties initiative by Auckland’s multi-award winning Suite Bar this month certainly takes gold for
innovation.
Suite partnered with Kingy Hsu and the team at Cut Collective, plus their own innovative bar team to create the ultimate
winter warm up at Suite – including hot cocktails and even arty ‘hotties’ to sit on!
Suite owner Dave Hawk says that the idea came while developing a winter cocktail menu with resident cocktail champion
Barney Toy. They noticed how the ubiquitous hot-water-bottle or ‘hottie’, loved by millions of Kiwis over the years,
looks somewhat like an ABSOLUT bottle.
If that comparison is a bit of a stretch, no matter, as the team set to work creating their ABSOLUT ‘Hotties’ to warm
the derrieres of their valued patrons, who brave the cold nights to join them at Suite during the winter.
Dave asked Cut Collective to personalise each hottie cover with a piece of stunning artwork. The resulting limited
edition of 20 hotties will be available for Suite’s female guests when they buy a cocktail off the new list during
August. And if they come in between 5-8:00pm on Thursdays, they’ll also get their nails done for free.
“We just got really excited about our new winter cocktail menu and wanted to do something for the ladies,” says Dave.
“Great warming cocktails, a hottie to hug and a free nail treatment? Priceless.”
The cocktail themselves are something special, created by Barney Toy, including ABSOLUT Wild Tea, with hot peach tea,
lemon and sugar; ABSOLUT Pure, with mulled apple, cardamom and grapefruit peel, ABSOLUT Wild Tea, green tea and honey;
and a stunning ABSOLUT Expresso Martini. Each selection is served in teapots with china cups like a ‘20s Speakeasy.
Barney is becoming a legend among New Zealand’s bartenders and this week had the delight of being selected for the
finals of the Cocktail World Cup.
“We wanted to have a bit of fun and Barney and the team have really excelled themselves,” says Dave.
“We think we have the ultimate winter warming package,” he said.
