Paper Plus encourages police to get silly for Red Nose Day
Paper Plus has reached out to local community policemen and women from Ormiston Police Station, encouraging them to join forces with the thousands of Kiwis nationwide who are celebrating Red Nose Day this year and getting a little silly for a serious cause.
The famous red noses were donned by the community’s constables and their patrol vehicles on 8th August to bring awareness to Red Nose Day to Cure Kids, a campaign to raise vital funds for medical research into children’s illnesses, driven by Cure Kids and proudly supported by Paper Plus.
Paper Plus’ Marketing Manager, Lyle Hastings is thrilled that the local police have backed the initiative and are supporting the children and their deserving families.
“It’s great to see role models such as the constables at Ormiston Police Station involved with Red Nose Day to Cure Kids for 2012. With each passing year the cause is gaining momentum and so many members of the community are getting behind it – including our very own local officers!” says Lyle.
“Paper Plus is committed to being a long-term partner of Cure Kids, and an integral part to the annual Red Nose Day event. We are thrilled to be able to drum up support from other organisations such as the New Zealand Police.”
Cure Kids CEO, Vicki Lee says, “Our research touches every community in New Zealand, and Red Nose Day is all about everyone – young and old – doing good and feeling good about making a difference to our precious Kiwi kids. We are delighted that our wonderful community police officers are getting behind this and showing their support for improving the health of Kiwi kids, through research and its outcomes.”
Approximately one child in 30 in New Zealand lives with a life-threatening illness or genetic malformation The Red Nose Day to Cure Kids campaign calls for school children across the nation to showcase their best fundraising efforts, with the opportunity to be a part of a four-and-a-half hour comic marathon, Red Nose Day Comedy for Cure Kids, which will feature Kiwi icons including Flight of the Conchords and some All Black team members.
All Paper Plus and Take Note stores are getting behind the campaign, with staff ready to help local schools in communities throughout New Zealand. All donations will be invested back into the medical research of child health.
