Daytime Concert Series 2012

MEDIA RELEASE – Daytime Concert Series 2012
August /September 2012 National Tour, presented by Operatunity.

The Best of the Classics

The Daytime Concert Series presents another Operatunity first with this concert exclusively accompanied by a string trio. The concert features some of the best loved tunes of all time - vibrant waltzes, beautiful songs and haunting melodies presented by soprano Susan Boland, two of the Three New Zealand Tenors, Bonavenutre Allan -Moetaua and Derek Hill with violinists Jessica Hindin, Peau Halapua and cellist Rachel Wells.

Jessica Hindin leads the string trio and brings with her an extraordinary ability to make the violin sing. After completing her degree at Auckland University in performance violin, Jessica travelled to Ireland and successfully performed for world music group Barrage, touring for the next five years on five continents. Upon returning to New Zealand Jessica has enjoyed a multi dimensional freelance career in classical, country, jazz, world and Celtic music with bands, orchestras, TV work and on the concert stage.

Jess says, “I’m very excited to be going back on the road with Operatunity as my last national tour was lots of fun, and I’m really looking forward to meeting all the lovely Operatuntiy audiences again! This time we have a new twist, as I am bringing a fabulous string trio with me! During the concerts we'll also be performing some works from our own repertoire, including 'The Swan’ for solo cello, and one of my own personal favourites, Czardas by Monti.
We have been lucky enough to play for Eileen Page, Harry Connick Jnr, and Hayley Westinra to name a few, and we are delighted to be accompanying the wonderful singers chosen to be part of the Best of Classics on this upcoming tour!
Classics in this concert include Ave Maria, Voices of Spring, the Pearlfishers Duet, Pie Jesu, songs and waltzes made famous by Andre Rieu and melodies like Air on a G string, Pachebel Canon, Jesu joy of man’s desiring and The Swan with music featured by Mozart, Schubert, Puccini, Bizet, Bach and so many more.
