FLORAL NOTES – friendship regenerates like a garden in spring!
An uplifting story of friendship, Floral Notes is a fabulous musical play starring all-time theatre favourites, Geraldine Brophy and Jane Keller. This wonderful new play is being brought to you by The Central North Island Arts Consortium and is touring to Hastings, New Plymouth and Hamilton from 2nd – 6th October.
Written by Geraldine Brophy and featuring songs by some of the best composers of the twentieth century, Floral Notes is an uplifting story of a growing friendship between two women living at opposite ends of the world.
Iris and Rosemary were pen pals when they were young but in their teenage years they lost touch. Iris now lives in a brownstone in New York and longs for a garden on her roof… an escape from her peculiar family and busy urban world where she runs an Art Gallery. Rosemary owns a large lifestyle property in small town rural New Zealand. She grows nuts and micro-veggies for the commercial market – but lavishes her love on a tiny plot of flowers, just for herself.
Through a twist of fate they re-kindle their friendship and Rosemary offers to help Iris transform her New York rooftop into a garden paradise – via email.
Told with humour and charm and interlaced with songs by some of the great twentieth century composers, Floral Notes is a touching and poignant story of these two pen pals whose lives are enriched when their friendship is renewed.
Floral Notes stars much-loved actor Geraldine Brophy most remembered as the energetic Moira Crombie on Shortland Street between 1997-2001. Starring alongside Geraldine is well known operatic performer, Jane Keller. Floral Notes is directed by Emma Kinane, piano accompaniment by Michael Nicholas Williams.
‘Floral Notes affirms the importance of friendship and it is especially beautiful to watch Iris and Rosemary’s relationship regenerating like a garden in Spring.’ - review by Jo Hodgson
