More Gold for New Zealand
New Zealand’s Palace Dance Studio has taken the world by storm for the fourth year running at the 2012 World Hip Hop Dance Championships held in Las Vegas from 1 - 5 August.
Crew Royal Family, made up of eight of last year’s world’s winning crew ReQuest, defended their three year title and were named 2012 Mega Crew Gold Medalists. Junior crew Bubblegum took home Gold making them two-time world champions with Sorority taking the Silver in the Varsity section.
Parris Goebel, owner, dancer and choreographer of The Palace Dance Studio is ecstatic with the 2012 World Hip Hop placings: “The wins are amazing. We’ve worked hard and these medals are an acknowledgement of our passion and determination.”
Goebel returns home to be ambassador for the Auckland Council’s Southside Arts Festival, a month-long showcase of talent and creativity in fashion, music, art, theatre and dance.
“There is so much talent in Southside. I am really looking forward to getting home and being amongst the festival,” says Goebel.
Auckland Council Mayor Len Brown is proud of the Aucklander’s international achievements and is thrilled to have her as an ambassador for the festival, “We congratulate Parris for her achievements. Her drive, passion and determination reflects the Southside community’s energy for the arts.”
Southside Arts Festival showcases more than 40 events and runs from 12 October to 11 November 2012. The three cornerstone events of the festival are the Southside Gig, Cult Couture and the Mixer 3 Concert.
