Greg Murphy Racing Clean, Clinical and Consistent Beneath Clear Skies
Round four of the V8 Supercars Dunlop Development Series at Queensland Raceway has proven to be one of the most
successful of the year for Greg Murphy Racing, with three top ten finishes for Dale Wood and sixth place for the round.
The reverse top ten grid for race two saw the #45 GB Galvanising / Wilson Technology / Hi Tec Oils Commodore start from
row two on the grid in position four. Dale got off to a great start but couldn’t sneak into the inside line and dropped
to sixth place where he remained for the majority of the race, steering well clear of the action ahead and behind. Just
one safety car lap for a car in the sand meant the drivers could make the most of the ideal track conditions with the
lap record broken five times during the race.
Geoff Emery started race two in the #48 R & J Batteries / EarthEx / WURTH Commodore from position 18, after some setup issues marred race one, he was ready to
power through the field. Power through he did, picking up two places on the first lap and three more in the following
laps. Emery battled mid pack with Russell, Blanchard and Barbour to eventually finish in 11th place.
Wood’s second top ten finish for the weekend handed him another top ten spot on the grid for race three, starting out of
position six. He continued his strong performance by holding onto sixth place for the duration of the 22 lap race.
“It’s been good to finish the weekend without any incidents,” Wood said. “The car was quick in qualifying which lifted
me out of the mid-pack danger zone, and it was very consistent throughout the races.
“This kind of result is a really good confidence booster for the last three rounds of the series.”
No safety car periods gave the field the opportunity to break up into smaller battle packs, including the one Emery
found himself in with Jane, Blanchard and Russell, after starting from position twelve. Emery held his ground and came
home in 13th place to finish the round in 14th.
“We missed the car setup in the first race, but we came home strongly in the last two,” Emery said. “In the final race I
got shuffled back by some of the faster cars, but the car is still in one piece and now I’m looking forward to racing at
Bathurst.”
There is now a long two month break before the Dunlop V8 Supercar Development Series heads to Mount Panorama for the
fifth round of the series.
