Rhythm And Alps Announces 2012 Festival At Terrace Downs, Canterbury, December 28-29
Featuring: Sbtrkt Live, Hospital Records, Disclosure Live, Chali 2na, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, A Hori Buzz, The Nudge, Hermitude, Opiuo, Gas Lamp Killer, Spektrum, DJ Yoda, Electric Wire Hustle, and more still to be announced! Following on from last year's success, Rhythm and Alps is back on December 28 and 29 at the picturesque Terrace Downs Resort at the base of Mt Hutt, just one hour's drive from Christchurch.
The 2012 festival will present more than 50 acts - both local and international - across four zones. Headliner SBTRKT LIVE is exclusive to the South Island festival showing R can give older sibling Rhythm and Vines a run for its money. UK’s hottest new property DISCLOSURE will support SBTRKT in the Alpine Arena. Many other acts will appear at both festivals, giving fans across the whole country the chance to see a world-class line-up this summer.
This year will be another stepping stone in building an exciting platform for local and international musicians to perform at their best. Festival Director Alex Turnbull says; “We cant wait to open the gates and welcome all the people back who have made it possible.” R founder Hamish Pinkham says the vision is continuing and he couldn’t be happier to see the Rhythm magic settling into the south island; ‘’Its all about delivering a world class event to the people of Canterbury’’
The four zones at Terrace Downs this year will include: the main stage Alpine Arena, the improved electronic Rhythm Room, an eclectic Campground Stage with indie, punk and noise bands, plus a stage called 'Where the Wild Things Are' surrounded by forest. Joining forces with the R team, media partner TVNZU is looking forward to coming back for a second year. Two brand-new partners have also come on board to add to the festival experience. Spotify will enhance the digital presence in a variety of innovative ways for music lovers, and The Edge is kicking off its support with coverage in the lead up, and will be onsite broadcasting.
Various accommodation options are available, including free onsite camping as well as hotels and holiday homes in the surrounding area. New and improved VIP packages will also be on offer.
Tickets are on sale now via www.rhythmandalps.co.nz and the early birds sold out in just one day. Tickets are available from $119 to $169 for 2 days inclusive of camping, but the organisers aren't expecting the allocation of 5,000 to last long.
