GMR Duo Ready to Conquer Queensland Raceway
Greg Murphy Racing Dunlop V8 Supercar Development Series drivers Geoff Emery and Dale Wood are full of confidence ahead of this weekend’s fourth round of the Dunlop V8 Supercar Series at Queensland Raceway, with both drivers having recorded strong top-10 race finishes in the last round of the series at Townsville.
In contrast to the street circuit layout of Townsville, the Queensland facility is much simpler, with more generous runoff areas and plenty of corners where overtaking is possible. The Greg Murphy Racing VE Commodores have proven very consistent over race distances this season, which should work to the advantage of Emery (R & J Batteries / EarthEx / WURTH / VE Commodore) and Wood (GB Galvanising / Wilson Technology / Hi Tec Oils VE Commodore).
According to Greg Murphy Racing managing director Kevin Murphy, Queensland Raceway will be another weekend where the team will concentrate on just two cars ahead of a hopeful expansion back to three entries for the final three rounds of the Dunlop Series at Bathurst, Winton and Homebush.
“Our team has very capably run three or four cars in the past, and it is our desire to find a competitive driver to put in our spare car for the remainder of the year, budget pending,” Murphy said.
“I’m hopeful there will be interest in our third seat, because Bathurst is always a popular event, Winton is our test circuit and Homebush is another marquee event to finish off the year.”
This weekend’s Queensland Raceway Dunlop Series round will be the same format as the Townsville round, with three races held across the weekend. Race 2 will use the top-10 reverse-grid format, and Race 1 (Saturday) and Race 3 (Sunday) will be broadcast as part of Channel 7’s V8 Supercar coverage.
