As the weather cools this winter, Wellington heats up. The same can be said for the 2012 Lexus Song Quest. Hot deals and even hotter competition are just some of the things you can look forward to when visiting the coolest little capital in August.
Watch
Six of New Zealand’s hottest young opera talent will battle it out live on stage at the Lexus Song Quest grand final concert on 30 August.
In perhaps the most exhilarating and nerve-wracking night of their careers to date, the young singers (all under 25) will perform with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of distinguished operatic conductor, Oliver von Dohnányi.
It’s the first time in five years since the final was held in Wellington - so get in quick to secure your seat for the biggest singing night of the year. Tickets available at Ticketek.co.nz and start from $38.
Eat
Get into the spirit of the Opera and enjoy fine Italian fare with Fratelli’s pre-show menu. For $35 you’ll receive homemade flat bread to start, a choice of three main courses, a sweet treat and coffee to finish. Delizioso!
Courtenay Place will have you spoilt for choice with Nicolini’s extensive menu and wine list to match. While at the authentic Pizzeria Napoli, you can order any large traditional Italian pizza for $25 and receive a bottle of Peroni on the house.
Stay
When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie… it’s time for bed. After the show, rest your head at Amora Hotel Wellington. Just a stone’s throw away from Michael Fowler Centre, this luxury hotel offers expansive views, a fine dining restaurant and ample parking.
Enjoy an Amora Affair - one night’s accommodation for two in a Deluxe Room, full buffet breakfast in The Grill Restaurant, a bottle of bubbly served on ice in your room, and an indulgent selection of chocolates for $199.
Or warm up with Winter at Amora – one night’s accommodation for two in a Deluxe Room and a fully cooked buffet breakfast in the Grill Restaurant from $169.
