Secret Sounds are thrilled to announce that Die! Die! Die! will join THE SMASHING PUMPKINS for their Auckland show at Vector Arena on Saturday 4th August.
Hot on the heels of their latest and 4th studio album HARMONY, the 3 piece line-up of Andrew Wilson, Mikey Prain and new bassist Mike Logie (of The Mint Chicks, F In Math, and Opossom) can’t wait to reveal some new tracks and old favourites. Fans can expect to see the raw energy and emotion that encapsulates their DIY punk philosophy and hear the ‘live feedbacky nasty guitar sound’ that is signature Die! Die! Die!
For their Vector Arena show, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS will debut a unique stage design, created to reflect the visual themes to go along with the full presentation of their new album, “Oceania” – out now through Create/Control – as well as playing plenty of classic Pumpkins catalogue.
Said Billy Corgan of the new show: "New Zealand is the perfect place to usher in a new era of The Smashing Pumpkins, where we look to combine an epic rock show with the latest in visual mapping technology to create a one-of-a-kind experience for our fans.”

About The Smashing Pumpkins:
THE SMASHING PUMPKINS have created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in musical history having sold more than 30 million albums, and won multiple Grammy Awards in the process. Formed in Chicago in 1988, they released “Gish”, their influential and platinum debut in 1991, which was followed by albums including the nine-time platinum “Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness” and the four-time platinum “Siamese Dream”, as well as the platinum certified 1998 album “Adore”. The pivotal group’s many hits defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate on modern rock radio, influencing a whole new generation.
The PUMPKINS returned in 2007 with their acclaimed sixth album “Zeitgeist” and they have since remained on the cutting edge of music and technology with various online releases. “Oceania” is their 7th studio album and the band will support it with a global tour in 2012.
“Oceania” is out now, through Create/Control.
About Die! Die! Die!:
Hailing from what is considered NZ’s iconic music city, Dunedin, founding members Andrew Wilson and Michael Prain cut their teeth in the live music scene by playing in noise bands around town. It wasn’t until 2003 that they formed Die! Die! Die!, but they already had the hard working DIY ethos that continues even now.
Taking their inspiration from likeminded artists HDU, Bailterspace and the Dead C, the band have always given their all at every show - the result being a band that brings persistent ferocity and energy to live performances and leaves the punters with an intense, euphoric feeling post show.
Never a band to rest, Die! Die! Die! continue to live the true rock n roll lifestyle –touring extensively worldwide between albums. They have successfully carved out a niche for their sound and grown their fan base each time they doss down.
2005 saw the band record their debut self titled album in Chicago under the tutelage of uber-cool Steve Albini, who brought intensity to their raw, minimal sound with his experience in bands Big Black, Rapeman, Shellac, as well as producing such iconic albums as Nirvana’s In Utro.
A dilapidated barn in New York was the scene for the second album. Enlisting the help of their long time friend and mentor Shayne P. Carter (Bored Games, Doublehappys, Straitjacket Fits, Dimmer), Die! Die! Die! released Promises, Promises to critical acclaim (including 8/10 reviews in The Guardian and NME) in 2007.
FORM, released in 2010 saw Die! Die! Die! as one of the first new artists contacted to the reformed Flying Nun – further proving their worth as an important band becoming part of this historic label. The album was produced by label mate Nick Roughan (Skeptics), who encapsulated their live sound even further, strengthening the unyielding, sometimes reckless and menacing sound, combining it with the bursting melodies the band are known for.
This year, Die! Die! Die! release Harmony, their fourth studio album recorded at Blackbox Studios, France. This album proves the band continue on their evolution to perfect their sound. Harmony brings together the raw energy and emotion from their live shows, encapsulating savant pop elements with their DIY punk philosophy. Produced by Chris Townend (Portishead, D12, Violent Femmes), and bringing back Shayne P. Carter on vocals, Harmony is set to be THE album of 2012.
Bringing on board bassist Michael Logie (The Mint Chicks, F In Math, Opossom), Die! Die! Die! will tour their face melting shows this July, continuing to evoke fierce loyalty in fans and burn as many bridges as they cross.
“Harmony” is out now, through Rhythmethod.
