Ladies Night at The Medicine
Ladies Night at The Medicine
This week on Wednesday, The Medicine at Meow features an all female line up of outstanding comedic talent from Wellington.
Historically stand up has been a male dominated art form but in recent times more and more females have been taking to the stage and thriving.
“Wellington has a very strong female comedy presence, so this is a chance for us to showcase the talents of our talented female comics - and attract an audience that might ordinarily avoid the stand-up comedy scene,” says Ricky Threlfo, the show’s producer.
Fresh off the back of her hit Comedy Festival Show, ‘Who Dat Shelia’, Parekotuku Moore hosts the best of the best comediennes in town from award winners to seasoned festival performers and rookies, including Ricky’s own daughters, Esther and Imogen Lewis, aged 15 and 11 respectively.
“They’ve seen me perform but have been interested in stand up for the last few years because they're big Seinfeld fans,” says Ricky.
The two hour long show starts at 8pm and features Parekotuku Moore, Roni Saul, Hilaire Caromdy, Julia Holden, Jim Stanton, Jen O’Sullivan, Maria-Jane Brody, Esther Lewis and Imogen Lewis
