Sun Ruler to be Offered at NZB's Winter Mixed Sale

One of the many attractive entries on offer at New Zealand Bloodstock's Winter Mixed Bloodstock Sale is the blue-blooded entire Sun Ruler (Zabeel x Sunline) who has had a correction to his pedigree page.

To be offered at Lot 75, the horse's pedigree in the catalogue says Sun Ruler has been seen to windsuck. New Zealand Bloodstock would like to assure prospective buyers that the catalogue page is incorrect and the horse has not been seen to windsuck.

The champion mare Sunline (NZ) wins the 1999 Cox Plate

Sun Ruler is a son of the champion sire Zabeel, the sire of 42 individual Group 1 winners. Zabeel has also proven a good sire of sires with his son Savabeel proving one of the hottest young stallions in New Zealand at present, siring two Group 1 Derby winners this season alone in Sangster and Brambles.

Zabeel is also the grand-sire of Lonhro, the champion sire in Australia last season and the sire of the outstanding Group 1 Golden Slipper winning colt Pierro.

Sun Ruler's dam is the champion New Zealand mare Sunline (Desert Sun), the winner of 13 Group 1 races. The late Sunline won over $14 million in stakes with her Group 1 victories including Australia's Weight for Age Championship - the Group 1 Cox Plate (twice), the Group 1 Doncaster Handicap (twice) and the Group 1 Hong Kong Mile.

A $2 million yearling, the six-year-old entire is being sold to dissolve a partnership at the Winter Mixed Bloodstock Sale on Friday 3 August. The Sale will also feature broodmares, yearlings, two-year-olds and leading host of racing and breeding propositions.
