After a month of online voting the results are in - Katie Thompson is one of three nominees for Female Artist of the Year 2012.
Hailing from the West Coast, Katie Thompson has a hugely emotive voice and an ability to capture a slice of everyday life in her music.
After releasing her 2nd album, “Impossible”, Katie is gaining an International following and bringing New Zealand music to the masses. Her fans believe she is poised to shake up the Country/Pop scene. The album has been described as a treasure-trove of rare and beautiful songs which blend elements of pop, folk and country.
Some of Katie’s highlights include, opening for Sir Elton John at his only New Zealand show in Dunedin November 2011, receiving NZ On Air video funding for her latest single “Cruel To Be Kind” and also receiving nationwide airplay with Classic Hits – quite an achievement on a commercial radio station. With a South Island tour complete a National tour is on the cards for the summer where Katie will showcase her new material.
Katie will be travelling to Hamilton to attend the awards night alongside fellow nominees Aly Cook & Kylie Austin. “I’m thrilled to be a nominee in this year’s awards. I’ve had an exciting & busy year and really appreciate the support & acknowledgement! Thanks to everyone who voted!”
