ReStyle 2012 Entries are now open
ReStyle 2012 promises to be one of the most creative, innovative and hottest events on Hamilton’s cultural calendar,
capturing the creativity of designers across the country.
Brought to you for the twelfth consecutive year by The Body Shop, ReStyle is open to primary and secondary school
students, plus there are three open sections open to anyone wanting to give wearable art a go.
The purpose of ReStyle is to educate the importance of recycling, reusing and reducing waste, and over the last 11 years
there have been many spectacular garments that have shined on stage through the family orientated awards show. Some of
these projects have been weaved into the school curriculum, many pieces have been entered from previous fashion school
projects and others have been recycled, designed and tailored simply utilising one’s own creative flair.
It’s time now to starting funking your junk and register your garment into ReStyle 2012.
This year our culturally engaging awards show theme is “tribal” encouraging designers to utilise our past into something
representative and out-there. The categories this year aim to heighten the calibre with themes such as “diamonds are a
girl’s best friend” and “wild thang”.
Entries are open until Wednesday 8 August, with the ReStyle 2012 Awards Show taking place on Saturday 8 September at
Founders Theatre. Tickets will be on sale from 16 June. Also for the first time, this year ReStyle is holding dance
auditions to select performers for the awards show. They will be held on 24 June at 3pm at the Jazz Unlimited dance
studio.
The auditions are open to those who are over the age of 12 years old and have experience in either jazz, contemporary,
musical or theatre. For more information please email the choreographer at laurellejury@hotmail.com. For more
information about registering and ReStyle please visit http://restylehamilton.co.nz/.
