Quarter of a million dollar smile
There will be no teeth gnashing after one Auckland woman’s Lotto windfall of $250,000 has allowed her to pay for the dental work she’s always wanted.
“It sounds a bit funny, but after paying off my mortgage and bills, I would love to treat myself to fixing my teeth. They could do with a bit of an overhaul,” laughs the happy winner.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her ticket at Taumarunui New World. She had been visiting the town for a family member’s birthday, and had popped into the store to pick up some groceries.
“I don’t always buy Lotto tickets, but I had a few bonus tickets to cash in, so I thought why not?” says the winner.
After forgetting that she had the ticket in her wallet, the winner did not realise she had won the quarter of a million dollar prize until another grocery trip a few weeks after the draw.
“I was just doing my regular shopping back in Auckland when I realised I still hadn’t checked my tickets.
“I put it under one of the self-scanners and it said First Division winner. I thought ‘oh this could be good’ – but never realised it was going to be that much!
“I was standing in the store, trying to appear cool and calm, but I was so excited as I’d never won anything before.
“This win has given me a lot more opportunities – and also a soon to be new, dazzling smile.”
