Murphy heads to CRC Speedshow in support of Casper
3 July 2012
Greg Murphy, undoubtedly one of New Zealand’s most popular race stars, returns to CRC Speedshow this year to support Casper, the organisation that provides family support services, community and youth education to help prevent suicide.
Murphy and his sponsors, Mike Pero Mortgages and Mike Pero Real Estate, are supporters of Casper and the work done to deliver services for those bereaved by suicide.
As CRC Speedshow opens at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland on Saturday 21 July, Murphy will be at the show with Casper representatives and his Mike Pero Mortgages-backed V8SuperTourer race car.
Casper’s chief executive officer Maria Bradshaw says: “We are fortunate to have the generous sponsorship and strong commitment to suicide prevention of the Mike Pero Group. With Greg Murphy’s assistance both Saturday and Sunday, we’ll be at CRC Speedshow this year to raise awareness of just how bad suicide is in New Zealand and what we can do, as families and communities, to help prevent it.”
Bradshaw says the Casper team will have Mike Pero Racing merchandise for sale. “T-shirts, caps, drink bottles, umbrellas and jackets – all great quality gear. We’ll also have our Casper merchandise, T-shirts and special glow-in-the-dark shoelaces, which we made the annual 10 September World Suicide Prevention Day. Empty shoes are used internationally as a symbol of those who have died of suicide, a reminder of those who no longer walk beside us but who have left their footprints on our hearts. The glow-in-the-dark shoelaces represent hope that lives can be saved when families and communities join forces to prevent suicide.”
Casper is an acronym for Community Action on Suicide Prevention Education and Research. Visit www.casper.org.nz for more information.
Murphy’s #51 V8SuperTourer is one of several of the purpose-built V8 race cars on display at this year’s CRC Speedshow. Kayne Scott’s #99 Peak Oil Falcon is among the great line-up of vehicles that the team from Meguiar’s will present for the two days of CRC Speedshow, 21 and 22 July. And the #556 CRC Falcon run by Steve Richards for John McIntyre Racing will take pride of place on the display by the show’s naming rights’ sponsor, CRC.
The sixth annual CRC Speedshow is open from 9 am Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July. Tickets are available at the gate with an adult day pass $20, children aged 10 to 15 years $10 and children under 10 years free. A family pass for two adults and up to three children is available for $50.
News and information about CRC Speedshow is updated on the website, www.speedshow.co.nz, on a regular basis or follow the show on Facebook and Twitter.
