Fireside Folk Tales at
Fairfield House
These school holidays Body in Space presents an enchanting hour of stories at Fairfield House. Roger Sanders, professional storyteller and musician, has spent decades collecting tales from all over the world. The children of Nelson are invited to let their imaginations fly as Roger shares some of these in the rosy glow of Fairfield House’s fire-lit ballroom.
Roger is originally from
England. After studying art for three years he traveled
extensively, immersing himself in music and storytelling
projects. These included co-forming The Firebird's Feather
and touring schools, community and art centres. Roger
continued this work when he moved to New Zealand and he
currently tours the country
as a storyteller.
Roger's stories spring to life accompanied by music from instruments such as the rare and ethereal sounding Hang Drum. Able to play a whole cavalcade of instruments, you never know what Roger will pull out next, it could be his trusty guitar or it could be a tin whistle.
The stories that Roger has selected to tell these school holidays are most suitable for children between 7 and 10 years old but everyone is very welcome at this event and will surely enjoy the lyrical tales that we have in store.
Hot chocolates and other yummy treats will be available for purchase. Tickets to the show, Story Space, are $5 from Fairfield House. No EFTPOS on site.
