Call for Maori Language Award entries

Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Maori calls for entries to the Maori Language Awards.

Over the years the awards platform has been enhanced to more effectively acknowledge an array of efforts for the language. So whether your organisation is a relatively new inductee to the world of te reo Maori, or a seasoned battler, provision has been made within the awards format to ensure an extensive range of contributions recognised.

"We know that with a Maori Language Week theme like Arohatia te Reo, organisations and schools are undertaking many innovative initiatives to celebrate Maori language this year. The Maori Language Awards is the forum to have those projects acknowledged" says Chief Executive, Glenis Philip-Barbara.

"While the awards evening provides an opportunity to celebrate Maori language success across the motu - it also serves as a forum where Maori language advocates and enthusiasts can meet, exchange ideas, discuss issues and establish support networks for one another. This is especially important when you consider coordination and cross promotion of success is an area of development across the Maori language sector" says Glenis Philip Barbara.

The awards event will be held at the TECT Arena at Baypark in Tauranga on the evening of 16 November. The closing date for applications is 10 August, absolutely no extensions this year. Finalists will be announced early October.
