Media Release from NZ On Air

Friday 15th June 2012

NZ On Air announces new line up

NZ On Air has given the green light for a number of new programmes and some established favourites in its latest TV funding round.

Keeping It Pure will be an ambitious six-part documentary series examining environmental practices in New Zealand, the challenges, and how the country measures up to its 100% Pure ambition.

The series has been supported through the Platinum Fund and will screen on Prime.

Six other documentary projects were supported including new series NZ Story for TV One that will reveal insights into the lives of a cross section of very different New Zealanders. Bryan Bruce will once again challenge the status quo with three programmes for TV3 examining various aspects of New Zealand contemporary society in Inside Report and Mind the Gap; and Cantabrians’ continuing struggle to rebuild Christchurch will be profiled in Aftermath to be made by Paua Productions for Prime.

With the Paralympic Games only a couple of months away two one-hour documentaries, Black and White, have been funded for Prime. These programmes will profile the preparation of New Zealand's paralympic cycling and swimming teams for the games.

Popular drama series Go Girls has also been supported for another season on TV2 and the arts have not been forgotten with the return of The Secret Lives of Dancers on TV3.

NZ On Air has also confirmed $2.4m to support broadcast access for audiences with visual and hearing impairment. TVNZ Access Services is funded to provide captioning and audio description services for Deaf, hearing impaired, blind and sight impaired audiences on TV One, TV2 and TV3.
