Bold Destruction Wins Stakes Debut
Bigger things beckon for the Fastnet Rock colt Destruction who maintained his unbeaten record yesterday with a bold
front-running performance to win the A$100,000 Listed Dalrello Stakes (1200m) at Doomben.
By the hotshot sire Fastnet Rock, the Karaka sales graduate is the 33rd stakes winner for his sire, putting Fastnet Rock
in front of his own remarkable sire Danehill for stakes race wins at the same point in his career.
Bred by Mr P Newsom, Destruction was purchased by Connolly Bloodstock for Nathan Tinkler's Patinack Farm from Westbury
Stud for $240,000 at New Zealand Bloodstock's 2011 Premier Sale.

Destruction is the 33rd stakes winner for
his sire Fastnet Rock
Ridden yesterday by Glyn Schofield, Destruction (Fastnet Rock x Storm Signal) was taken straight to the front from the
number one stall and led the field, kicking away at the top of the straight and holding rival Holey Gadoley to the line
in heavy conditions to win by three-quarters-of-a-length.
Trained by John Thompson for owners Patinack Farm, the colt made his winning debut at Rosehill on 26 May beating the Gai
Waterhouse trained Kabayan (Haradasun) who ran second in Saturday's Group 1 The T.J. Smith (1600m) to crack two-year-old
Sizzling (Snitzel).
Destruction will now head to the spelling paddock for four to five weeks before being prepared for a spring campaign
which could see him aimed at the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m), a race won by the likes of Sepoy, Weekend
Hustler, Gold Edition and Alinghi.
Patinack Farm has already achieved stakes success with Karaka graduate Trusting (Tale of the Cat) this season, who was
purchased from the 2008 Karaka Premier Sale for $300,000. The colt won three times at Group 2 level including this
season's Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m), and placed in Group 1 races including the Golden Rose, George Main Stakes,
Epsom Handicap and Chipping Norton Stakes.
Trusting has been retired to stud and will stand his first season at Patinack Farm's Queensland base in Canungra for a
fee of A$16,500. Patinack's Queensland farm also stands the Karaka graduate Monaco Consul (High Chaparral) who won the
Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes/Group 1 VRC Derby double.
Two Karaka graduates by Fastnet Rock have won Group 1 races this season with the $1 million colt Rock 'n' Pop winning
the Group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas and Planet Rock taking the Group 1 NZ 1000 Guineas and the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of
the Year title.
Fastnet Rock also topped this year's Karaka Yearling Sales when his colt from Nureyev's Girl, a three-quarter brother to
Group 1 winner King's Rose (Redoute's Choice), was purchased by David Ellis for $1.75 million.
