LPC Sparks Lyttelton’s Mid Winter Festival
This year Lyttelton Port of Christchurch (LPC) will sponsor one of the highlights of the Festival, the Lyttelton Port of Christchurch Fireworks Extravaganza.
The annual Lyttelton Harbour Festival of Lights has been running for eight years and has quickly become a destination event.
This year the Festival runs from Thursday 07 June to Sunday 10 June with a full programme of events including music, wine tasting, a masked event and the very popular Street Party on Friday 08 June from 6-10:30pm.
LPC Chief Executive Peter Davie says the Festival of Lights is something the company looks forward to each year.
“We are committed to supporting activities which bring the local community together,” he says. “The Festival of Lights is a hugely popular community driven event and each year it just gets better and better.
“I know my family is looking forward to the festival. Id encourage everyone – locals and visitors alike – to get out and see what Lyttelton has to offer. Everyone needs to get behind the festival.”
This will be the eighth annual Lyttelton Harbour Festival of Lights. The event is an initiative of Project Lyttelton and has been sponsored by Lyttelton Port of Christchurch for the past six years. The Street Party begins at 6pm with a Mask Parade and runs through to 10pm. The Lyttelton Port of Christchurch Fireworks Extravaganza, is timed for 7.30pm.
Project Lyttelton event organizer Andrew Turner says hes pleased with the line-up this year.
“The programme is a celebration of local Lyttelton talent, and support from the community and local businesses has been amazing,” he says.
“Our Festival of Lights has matured into a „must see Christchurch event and one that shows Lyttelton lit up at its midwinter best.”
