Barbara Kendall guest speaker at Dominion Post Sports Awards

Board sailing legend Barbara Kendall announced as guest speaker at the 2012 Dominion Post Sports Awards

Barbara Kendall will be the guest speaker at the Dominion Post Wellington Sportsperson of the Year Awards 2012. Kendall will be speaking about her journey from the ‘Playground to the Podium’, and reminiscing on a brilliant career on the water.

Kendall competed at five consecutive Olympic Games Regattas hauling in Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for New Zealand in Barcelona, Atlanta and Sydney and she achieved eight World Championship medals throughout her career on the board. She was also four times New Zealand Sports Woman of the Year and two times New Zealand Sailor of the Year.

The awards dinner will take place at the Wellington Town Hall on Thursday 21 June. 13 awards will be handed out honouring the capital’s sporting elite from administrators and coaches to emerging stars, as well as the supreme award; The Dominion Post Wellington Sportsperson of the Year 2012. Three new Legends will also be inducted into the Sports Legends of Wellington programme.
