Hamilton: Committee members sought for Performing Arts Fund

Committee members sought for Performing Arts Fund

1 June 2012

Nominations for the Allocation Committee to distribute Hamilton City Council’s Performing Arts Contestable Fund have opened.

The $100,000 fund supports projects which contribute to the development of sustainable performing arts programmes, audience growth, and enhance the skills of performing arts organisations or practitioners in Hamilton.

Allocation of the fund is by a six-person committee, comprising one Hamilton City Councillor – Councillor Margaret Forsyth - and five members of the public.

Councillor Forsyth says individuals interested in joining the Allocation Committee must demonstrate a strong knowledge of the performing arts, cultural understanding, financial and project management abilities, marketing awareness and experience in funding allocations.

“The members of the public who join the Allocation Committee should also have influence and experience in the local performing arts community,” says Councillor Forsyth.

Nominees will need to be available for two full days in September to deliberate on the allocation of the funding.

An outline of the Performing Arts Contestable Fund and nomination forms for the Allocation Committee are available from Council’s website, or can be obtained by emailing funding@hcc.govt.nz

Members of Allocation Committee will be selected in late June, and announced in July. The Allocation Committee is entirely separate to the Arts Forum.
