Radio One Presents OUSA Re-Orientation 2012

Kora – LadyHawke – Left or Right – She’s So Rad – Heath Franklins Chopper Read – Paul Ego – Dudstown Soundsystem – Two Cartoons

Carnival on Campus + International Food Festival

OUSA is back in semester two with a line up that’ll welcome back the Union Hall as well as some of New Zealand’s most popular acts. Kicking off on the 11th of July Otago University will be host to two major Kiwi music nights, a carnival on campus, the international food festival and will be revisiting Orientadium with another great line up of Comedy at the Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Firing up the week and supported by our old friends CONVERSE we’ll have our first taste of Kiwi pop rock sensation LadyHawke playing the newly renovated Union Hall alongside She’s So Rad. Fresh off touring the globe and releasing her second album on May the 25th, the multiaward winning LadyHawke is making her first visit to the Union Hall with her swag of soon to be hits and the tracks that propelled her into the spotlight after the release of her debut album.

Mainland favourites Kora will return as the finale for the returning week and are set to break in the new venue in a style to make us proud. Having released their new album after a three year wait the four Kora bothers, along with the honorary step bother, and their freakish musical ability are welcomed back to University with an honours degree in anticipation. Their first album having huge success in New Zealand, and having been a crowd favourite whenever they’ve been to Dunedin, OUSA is looking forward to having them back to cap off the week of events alongside Dunedin’s own Dudstown Soundsystem and Southern boys Left or Right.

It’s not just students’ feet that will be getting a work out during Orientation, the line up of comedians to once again dominate the stadium ensure that the abs will be getting a workout as well. Paul Ego and Heath Franklin’s Chopper Read will be leading the comedy charge at the Forsyth Barr stadium for Friday the Funny 13th, the logie award winning Franklin and Seven Days favourite Ego will be down for the night to make sure Dunedin is in good spirits for the ominous day!

The daylight will get fun times too, and for those wanting to let loose between classes OUSA is bringing back the child in all of us with the Carnival on Campus alongside their first Market Day of the semester. With a swag of free rides, bands on the Union Lawn, and a load of goodies for sale; Thursday the 12th of July is set to be a day of fun on campus that’ll work up a hunger for the International Food Festival kicking off at 6.30pm. Nothing costs over $5 and all money goes back to the OUSA clubs that run the stalls and cook all the food. All are welcome as students from across the globe share with us a few of their favourite treats from back home.
