Being honest about the skin you’re in - celebrating Youth Week with a global poem
It doesn’t matter if you’re a budding poet or not - you just need to be honest about how you feel about the skin you’re in.
That’s the message of this year’s Youth Week theme - ‘Love the Skin you’re in’.
To celebrate Youth Week, Save the Children New Zealand hopes young people around New Zealand will get involved in creating a global poem on Facebook and express their feelings on image and identity. There is also an opportunity to explore some of the issues around this on the Hear Our Voices Values Exchange.
Once it’s complete, the poem will be published on the Save the Children New Zealand website. It will also be shared on the Youth Week website.
A summary of what young people are saying on the values exchange will be made available to the organisers of Youth Week, Save the Children New Zealand board, and others. The data will inform the work of Save the Children New Zealand as we seek to develop young people’s potential. It will also give you an idea of what others are thinking.
To take part in creating the poem visit the Save the Children Child and Youth Council page on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/events/288381361256888/)
