Swinging Sixties Celebration
Relive the 60s and celebrate the music that changed the world!
The Swinging Sixties Celebration, 8 – 10 June, is a decadent weekend of music, dancing and dining at luxury Marlborough Sounds resort Bay of Many Coves.
Renowned Wellington Region musicians Nick Tansley and Andrew London will once again rock the Sixties Celebration with a playlist of 60s and 70s hits, while guests dine on divine degustation and retro menus specially created by the Resort’s Executive Chef.
Friday night is Folk Club night with cocktails, canapés and a six course degustation menu by Executive Chef Hannes Bareiter, featuring stunning local produce and wines to match.
Saturday night’s flavour is retro – Harvey Wallbangers and a retro menu (with a dash of contemporary style), followed by a rocking good night of 60s and 70s hits by duo Nick Tansley and Andrew London.
Guests are invited to don their best winklepickers and set the scene for the Saturday evening with prizes for the best dressed 60’s personality.
Culinary delights from the retro menu include such classics as Prawn Cocktail (1962), Chicken Kiev (1965), Duck A La Orange (1972), Sole Mornay (1961) and Baked Alaska (1967).
Set in the idyllic Queen Charlotte Sound, the Bay of Many Coves is the only 5-star luxury resort in the Marlborough Sounds.
As well as the music and festivities of the Swinging Sixties Weekend, guests also have access to Bay of Many Coves’ private native bush reserve, kayaking in the bay or simply relaxing in the Resort’s hot tub or Day Spa.
Prices for the 8-10 June Swinging Sixties Celebration Weekend start from $965 per person twin share when booked direct with Bay of Many Coves Resort.
Included in the package is two-night’s accommodation in a luxury apartment, return water taxi from Picton Wharf to the Resort, all main meals, wines accompanying the degustation dinner and a gourmet platter and bottle of Allan Scott Rose for Saturday lunch, served on the guest/s own private balcony.
