Silo Cinema: ‘The Castle’, Friday 18 May at 8pm

Silo Cinema: ‘The Castle’, Friday 18 May, food and bar from 5pm, film at 8pm

This Friday at Silo Cinema we’re screening The Castle. This is a story of a family of true Aussie battlers, the Kerrigans. Made in nine days on a shoestring budget, it has achieved worldwide success, and for good reason. It’s bloody hilarious.

The film kicks off at 8pm, and will be preceded by a short film called Ray. Continuing in the Australian vein, it’s a story of a kid stranded in a country town. DJs Lia Kent-MacKillop and Hannah Sarney will spin their fine tunes from 5pm.

Join us from 5pm for a glass of wine or craft beer from the container bar; and a delicious selection of snacks and meals from our food providers – from gourmet hotdogs to tacos, pizza, churros and more. Plus, we’ve added some great winter warmers to our line-up – a hot water bottle filling station (bring your own or borrow one of ours) and mulled wine on the bar.

Plus, Stardome Observatory will be back at Silo Park, with several high powered telescopes installed so you can stargaze before the film begins.

More on the film:

Working-class tow-truck driver and father of four Darryl Kerrigan’s (Michael Caton) only distinguishing feature is his beaming reverence for his home and family. Although his kids appear to be underachievers and his home is located on the edge of a major international airport, his family is his pride and joy and his home is his castle. So, when goverment officials demand that Kerrigan sell his house for an expansion of the airport, he fights back through the legal system- all the way up to the high court.
