Delta Innovation in Sport Nominees

Nominees shortlisted for the Delta Innovation in Sport Award have been announced ahead of the 2012 ASB Otago Sports Awards this Friday. They are the 100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games, Moro Marathon and New Zealand Masters Games.

Delta Chief Executive Grady Cameron says, “The strength of the three shortlisted events for the Delta Innovation in Sport award demonstrates the vibrancy of the Otago sporting community. As the smart-thinking infrastructure specialist, Delta is proud to support entrepreneurship and innovation in sports in Otago through this Award.

“The Delta Innovation in Sport Award is made to an individual or organisation who has made a major impact on the sporting community through their out-of-the-box thinking and taking on new challenges and risks.

“We are a community-owned company with the majority of our operations based in Dunedin and Otago. The award recognises individuals or organisations that have made a significant contribution to sport in the Otago region or New Zealand. Each year, nominees are drawn from such areas as management, sport science, facility development, marketing, event management, or sport development.

“Previous winners of the Delta Innovation in Sport Award include Michael Hill, John and Mary Lee of Cardrona, and Dunedin-based Animation Research Limited. This years Delta Innovation in Sport award will be judged by an expert panel convened and led by John Brimble, CEO, Sport Otago. The winner will be announced at the ASB Otago Sports Awards held at Forsyth Barr Stadium on Friday 18 May,” says Mr Cameron.
