Library events and free CD rentals celebrate NZ Music Month

ROTORUA 08.05.12: Rotorua District Library is celebrating New Zealand Music Month by offering a range of fun events and free music CD rentals, as well as a double pass to the Raggamuffin Roadshow for one lucky library member.

Library marketing & promotions officer Sue Heke says there is “heaps happening” at the library during May

“This includes live entertainment from local musicians The Thermaleles to cheer up lunchtime crowds on Wednesdays, and an open-mic night in the library’s teeNZown which is sure to attract local talent keen for some exposure.

“NZ Music Month also gives us the opportunity to highlight our extensive musical resources ranging from books on how to play instruments, music history, biographies, shows and gigs, to biographies about singers, musicians and bands.

“All of our music CDs are free to hire this month, while a family quiz night planned for the end of May will have a category dedicated to music. And a musical crossword competition available at the library is sure to challenge music buffs.”

Mrs Heke says locals can also source sheet-music and production music through the library’s interloan system which offers members access to thousands more resources.

A double pass to the Raggamuffin Roadshow is up for grabs for people who take out certain books during NZ Music Month celebrations.
