SKY ARENA Boxing: Hopkins v Dawson II
Media Alert: April 24, 2012
BOXING: Bernard Hopkins v Chad Dawson II WBC Light Heavyweight Fight only on SKY ARENA (SKY Channel 038) on Sunday April 29 from 1.30pm replaying the same evening at 8.30pm
The oldest fighter in boxing history to win a world title, Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins and former World Champion "Bad" Chad Dawson will meet again to settle their heated feud following their October 15, 2011 bout, which was originally scored as a TKO win for Dawson but later ruled a no decision by the California State Athletic Commission.
It’s hard to believe what WBC Light Heavyweight World Champion Bernard Hopkins has achieved during his 23-year long professional career. He was the middleweight champion for ten years, notched a record 20 successful title defences of that crown and in May of 2011, at 46-years-old, has become the oldest fighter in boxing history to win a world title. Now, Hopkins, who turned 47 on Jan. 15, is looking to make a historic defence at that age.
The son of a former boxer, Chad Dawson was a stellar amateur, posting a 67-13 record that included an under-19 National Championship. He turned professional in 2001 and over the years, Dawson established himself as one of boxing's best. He has been considered one of the top fighters in the sport for years and despite his impressive 7-1 record in world title fights, he knows that everything is riding on his April 28th rematch with "The Executioner."
