Auckland Transport advises plan travel early for ANZAC VB League Test

Auckland Transport advises the public to plan their travel early to Eden Park this Friday 20 April for the ANZAC international rugby league VB test between the Kiwis and the Kangaroos.

Auckland Transport is putting on additional trains and buses to Eden Park. Travel free on special event trains and buses three hours prior to the 8.15pm kick-off with a pre-purchased game ticket.

With the match being played on a Friday evening, there is potential for delays as people travel home from work and to Eden Park. People not going to the match should also be prepared for delays if they are travelling in the area.

Traffic will be heavy in the area around the stadium and some roads will be closed and areas close to the stadium are restricted to parking for residents only. Drivers should check they have parked correctly. Limited mobility parking areas are available on Cricket Avenue.

Alcohol is not permitted for consumption on any public transport service. Gates open at 6pm with the main game kick off at 8.15pm.

Travel to the test by train:

Special event trains are free from 5.15pm, until the end of service.

For people traveling from the west, normal scheduled services will depart from Swanson approximately every 15 minutes. Morningside is the station for passengers traveling to and from the west. From there it’s an easy walk to the stadium. A mobility shuttle will be available for patrons needing help to the stadium.

Extra services for the west will depart from Morningside approximately every 10 - 15 minutes from 9.50pm to 11.20pm, stopping at all stations en route to Waitakere.

The special event trains from Britomart will depart approximately every 5 -10 minutes between 6.46pm and 7.46pm stopping only at Grafton station en route. Customers are advised to travel as early as possible to Eden Park to avoid the crowds.

After the game, Kingsland is the station for passengers heading back to Britomart and the extra special event services will depart approximately every 5 - 10 minutes from 9.46pm to 11.08pm, stopping only at Grafton Station en route

Travel to the test by bus:

Free special event buses to Eden Park will run every 5 minutes from Auckland CBD, every 10 minutes from Newmarket via Mt Eden and every 10 minutes from Albany Station along the Northern Busway. Special event buses also run from Takapuna and Manukau/Pakuranga/Botany.

Special event buses are free with a pre-purchased game ticket from 4.15pm.
