Jess and Stan Head to Eden Park

Jess and Stan Head to Eden Park

One of Australia’s biggest pop stars, Jessica Mauboy, will make her first appearance in New Zealand this month. She’ll perform with Stan Walker before the biggest rugby league game in New Zealand this year – the Kiwis vs Kangaroos VB Test match at Eden Park on April 20.

The pair will sing individually and together, before Jessica delivers the Australian national anthem and Stan belts out the Kiwi anthem a cappella.

Jessica and Stan are used to combining their talents. They recently did so with the single Galaxy, which made the NZ Top 40, and they’ve not long finished a major tour of Australia.

Australia has been a happy hunting ground for both artists. Jessica has had five top ten singles there, including the Australian #1 Burn, and two top ten albums, while Stan has backed-up his Australian Idol success by also topping the Kiwi singles and albums charts. His most popular tunes include Black Box, Choose You and Loud.

Stan is currently in New Zealand shooting his feature film debut alongside Temuera Morrison and Miriama Smith. In Mt Zion, Stan, who grew-up in Tauranga, plays a young singer trying to branch out from his Pukekohe potato-picking family.

Jessica, who has also dabbled with acting, is from Darwin. Her father is Indonesian, from West Timor, while her mum is Aborigine. Like Stan, Jessica came to national prominence through Australian Idol, and, like Stan, she has used that platform to build a major international career. Her latest album includes contributions from Snoop Dog, Jay Sean and Ludacris.

Tickets for the Kiwis vs Kangaroos VB Test, featuring Stan Walker and Jessica Mauboy, are on sale now through Ticketek (www.ticketek.co.nz) and selected Mad Butcher stores.
