Waikato Artist Represents New Zealand
Waikato based artist Pamela Tapp has been selected by World Art Games NZ (WAG NZ) to attend a week long Artists’ Colony to be held in Croatia in May. The Colony will be attended by 20 International Artists and is one of several events being held in the lead-up to the 2013 World Art Games. Participants will be expected to complete at least three works during their stay, two of which will remain in Croatia, one at the National Museum and the other at the World Art Games Museum.
While Ms Tapp has been selected for the Colony based on her skills as a painter she is widely known for her work in various media which include fused/slumped glass, photography, textile design and craft work. Her works often amalgamate several different techniques into one piece allowing her to manipulate colour and form to create unique abstract/expressionist pieces. Along with her extensive exhibition history throughout New Zealand Ms Tapps’ work has made its way into several overseas collections.
“I am privileged to be representing NZ as an artist at the Colony. This experience will grow me as a person and an artist. I am really looking forward to meeting and working with artists from other countries and cultures and mixing that up with the passion and vibe of painting” says Ms Tapp.
President of the WAG NZ, Sharlene Schmidt is excited to be able to bring this calibre of opportunity to NZ Artists. “It is refreshing to work with Artists such as Ms Tapp, she approaches her work with a sense of freedom that communicates itself to viewers. We are looking forward to involving NZ Arts practitioners from various disciplines in similar events around the globe over the coming years.”
