New Race Course For Race Three Of Kathmandu Riverrun Trail Series
LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (26 March 2012) – Entries are now open for Race Three of the Kathmandu Riverrun Trail Series, the new course will offer athletes a spectacular Autumn run on the Outlet Track following the mighty Clutha River on Saturday 14 April.
Race Three will start and finish on the Hikuwai Reserve in Albert Town. The 13km course will head up in to the woodlands travelling along the Manuka fringed trail before joining the Outlet Track towards town alongside the clear waters of the Clutha River. The turnaround point is at Beacon Point beach, athletes will return to the finish line along the Outlet Track.
“April is the perfect time for a run along the Outlet Track with the brilliant reds and golds of the poplar trees lining the track,” said race director Victoria Murray-Orr. “The course is relatively flat and will appeal to runners of all abilities, we are thrilled to be able to incorporate another of Wanaka’s amazing tracks in the series.”
The Outlet Track is part of the Te Araroa
Walkway, a 3000-km trail stretching from Cape Reinga in the
North to Bluff in the South. Runners who competed in Hawea
and complete Race 4 of the series will be up for a prize,
sponsored by Te Araroa
There are four
races in the Riverrun Trail Series, an off-road running
series which explores the spectacular lakeside and river
tracks in Lake Wanaka. The final race is on Saturday 19 May
and travels on a lakeside course from Glendhu Bay to
Wanaka.
There is a fantastic prize pool up for grabs including cash prizes for place getters, plus plenty of spot prizes including vouchers for local cafes, restaurants, Revive massage treatments, book vouchers, outdoor gear, entries to the local swimming pool, supermarket vouchers, Rippon wine, Body Workshop massages, passes for ProActive and much more.
Wanaka Health will again be offering sports massage, treatments and assessments pre and post event for runners requiring help warming up or down and there’ll be fresh coffee at the start and finish line areas.
The Riverrun Trail Series is generously supported by Kathmandu, Riverrun, the Pawson Adventure Fund, Wanaka Health, Revive Beauty, Lakes Podiatry, ProActive and Radio Wanaka.
