Fashion designers bring stylish cycling to Queens Wharf

Established fashion designers as well as up and coming labels have sped to the opportunity to show their designs on bicycles. Shed 10 on Auckland’s Queens Wharf (Party central for the RWC) will host Cycle Style on Sunday 25 March. From noon until 5pm, five different fashion shows will be presented on the latest urban bicycles that are designed for everyday riding in style.

“We are really excited that Hannah-Lee Jade has just confirmed her show for Cycle Style. She is a young designer who is gaining a reputation for her bright, crisp, and angular clothes. She joins more established NZ designers, Starfish, Dalston and We’Ar who have all been selected for their commitment to NZ- made design using sustainably sourced fabrics” says fashion coordinator Cleo Barnett. Cycle Style will also include a specially produced retro show from K' Road's vintage stores and a finale show that showcases the day’s favourites.

“Shed 10 has the atmosphere and personality for this show” says event manager Craig Neilson. “Shed 10 is classic and customised, worn-in but still feeling new. Our models, the bikes and the clothes will really shine this Sunday.”

As well as five distinct fashion shows starting from noon, Cycle Style will include a performance from the Velociteers, NZ’s only synchronised cycling performance group and a sports demonstration from a group that plays polo by bike. Cycle Style will end with a finale of show highlights at 4:30pm.

Sunday 25 March inside Shed 10 on Queens Wharf, Noon – 5pm

The weather bomb forced the postponement of the original “outdoor” Cycle Style for 2012. The new indoor venue at Shed 10 on Auckland’s Queens Wharf means that Cycle Style is now going to be bigger and will be able to go ahead regardless of the weather.

The free event is a stylish celebration of urban cycling in Auckland. Attendees can enjoy a festival atmosphere and unique entertainment over a whole afternoon or select a specific show to attend.

The Cycle Style Programme:
• Noon Cycle Style entertainment
• 12:30 Fashion show: Dalston
• 1pm Velociteers – synchronised cycling performance
• 1:30 Fashion show: Starfish
• 2pm Fashion show: Hannah - Lee Jade
• 2:30 Auckland Hard-court Bicycle Polo
• 3pm Fashion show: We’Ar It
• 3:30 Vintage show: K Rd
• 4pm Join a group ride around Queens Wharf
• 4:30 Finale show

Presented on selected bikes from T-Whites, R&R and Cyco

Updates will be posted on Facebook and on the Frocks on Bikes (Auckland) page.

Cycle Style is a free event presented by Frocks on Bikes and Cycle Action Auckland in association with Auckland Transport and Waterfront Auckland. ALL WELCOME
