Le Comique:A Little Taste of Something Deliciously Different

Le Comique: A Little Taste of Something Deliciously Different

Welcome, once again, to a little taste of something different this Comedy Festival. Le Comique is a night like no other – a little risqué, a little naughty with a touch of ‘je nais se quoi’ this NZ International Comedy Festival.

Returning to host this year is France’s best export since Zinadine Zidane and Gerard Depardieu, Monsieur Marcel Lucont. A continual hit with Kiwi audiences from his last appearances at the Festival, Lucont is a self-published, self-award-winning author of several books and as debonair and suave as you’d expect a Frenchman to be. Lucont hosts alongside Kiwi femme-fatale, Mademoiselle Justine Smith, winner of the 2003 Billy T Award and a previous nominee for The FRED award. More recently, Mademoiselle Smith has earned funding for her 2012 show, The Pitch with Irene Pink, as part of the NZ Comedy Trust’s Creative Comedy Initiative.

To add a bit more of a global feel to this evening of comedic delights, they’ll be joined on this evening of delights by American country music superstar and Festival favourite Wilson Dixon, and the UK’s eccentric comedy troupe Idiots of Ants, making their Comedy Festival debut.

Magician Jarred Fell (NZ) also returns to Le Comique; Australian sensation Barry Morgan will take to the stage with his Hammond organ (as seen on Spicks & Specks); and star of AotearoHa! Next Big Things Ed Carruthers (NZ) almost round out the line up. However, it is a great privilege, des amis spéciaux (special friends) to announce a one-off Festival special…

Sam Wills (a.k.a. The Boy With Tape On His Face) rips of the gaffa tape to perform alongside Morgan Williams in the cult classic Spitroast – a special treat that you’ll only see at this event! And there will be other surprise guests on the night!
