Eden Park Sports Double: Plan Your Public Transport Travel

Extra trains and special event buses will be operating for fans heading to this weekend’s double-header of sports at Eden Park.
First up on Saturday (3 March) is the One Day International Test between the BLACKCAPS and South Africa followed on Sunday (4 March) when the Vodafone Warriors take on the Manly Sea Eagles for their first game of the season.
There is no free travel with a game ticket for either event. There are a range of transport options and fares; however people should check in advance which suits them best and make plans to travel early.
Traffic will be heavy in the area around the stadium, some roads will be closed and areas close to the stadium are restricted to parking for residents only. People not going to the game should be aware there is potential for delays in the area.

Normal fares apply for public transport travel to the cricket.
Go by train to the cricket:
Additional train services will operate on the Western Line to Kingsland Station, a short walk to Eden Park. An additional train service will operate on both the Southern, Eastern and Onehunga Lines.
Go by bus for the cricket:
Northern Express services depart every 15 minutes between 6.30am to 7.30pm to the city. Return services to Britomart will depart every 30 minutes after 8pm to 3am.

Sunday 4 March – Vodafone Warriors vs Manly Sea Eagles
Special event fares apply on trains and special event buses for the league. Pre-purchase your special event ticket for $10 to travel from anywhere on the rail network to the game and back, or buy a Family Pass for $23 return. You can buy tickets at Britomart, Papakura, New Lynn or Newmarket ticket offices in advance.
Go by train to the league:
Special event trains run from three hours prior to kick off at 2pm, until the end of service.
Kingsland is the game day station for passengers travelling to and from the city.
Morningside is the game day station for passengers travelling to and from the west.
People not going to the match should be aware there is potential for delays in the area and there are changes to some train services, with buses replacing trains on the Western Line from 12pm to 6pm.
Go by bus to the league:
Special event buses run to Eden Park from Albany every 10 minutes, Takapuna every 15 minutes, Auckland City Centre from Queen St outside the Civic every 5 minutes, Newmarket and Mt Eden every 10 minutes and from Manukau/Botany/Pakuranga every 15 minutes.
After the game, special event buses depart for one hour after final whistle.
Return fares only can be purchased for this event on special event buses. No single fares. A special Family Pass ticket on special event buses is $23.00 (return).

Passengers are reminded that alcohol is not permitted for consumption on any of these public transport services.
Some roads around Eden Park will be closed to the public. Every effort will be made to ensure access for residents and their visitors. However depending on crowd size and movement, access may be restricted at the discretion of Auckland Transport and the Police. Limited mobility parking areas are available on Cricket Avenue.
Auckland Transport’s Special Events Manager John Strawbridge says two different timetables will be in play for the two games at Eden Park this weekend. .
“As we head into the winter sports season we need all Aucklanders to have a transport plan on match days, whether they’re going to the match or not. For those going there are a range of transport options and fares; however people should check in advance which suits them best and make plans to travel early,” says Mr Strawbridge.
